The 2025 campaign has started. Green Destinations Top 100 competition application period, for which we are waiting for applications from settlements and tourist destinations from Hungary for the 3rd year!
The Green Destinations Top 100 competition is the world's largest initiative to collect sustainable tourism best practices, recognizing destinations that set an outstanding example through a sustainability measure, good practice or innovative solution.
Green Destinations, a global certification body accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), has been publishing a collection of good practices covering many aspects of sustainable destination management and regeneration every year since 2014. From entries received from 50+ countries around the world, 100 stories are selected that clearly illustrate the leadership skills of the storytellers and are a great inspiration for destinations, businesses and travelers globally.

Hungary has been successfully represented in the Green Destinations Top 100 competition for two years now:
2 destinations in 2023 added to the list: Miskolc and Veszprém
And 4 destinations in 2024 shared its sustainability good practices with the world: Esztergom, Sárvár, Tokaj Hegyalja and Veszprém
Why is it worth applying?
First step towards sustainability: If your destination is open to sustainability but you don't know how to get started, participating in the competition is a great starting point.
Cost-effective solution: Participating in the competition does not require large financial resources, but it helps to make the sustainability efforts of the tourist destination visible.
International visibility: Being included in the Green Destinations Top 100 list increases the recognition, attractiveness and credibility of their destination among both visitors and professional partners.
Marketing opportunity: The competition can initiate the sustainability positioning of the destination, which is an extremely important step according to both international and domestic tourism trends.
The application and preparation process is handled by Green Destinations' Hungarian representative, Innotime Hungary Kft. The deadline is March 31, 2025.
