Good Travel Seal received a Gold rating for Natura Pension and Apartment House in Orfű
Natúra Pension and Apartment House in Orfű has been awarded the Good Travel Seal (GTS) Gold certification. The certification is the result of an independent audit based on international standards, which certifies the sustainable operation of tourism businesses. Natúra Pension has thus become the first Good Travel Seal certified pension in Baranya County.
The guesthouse, located in the Mecsek Valley, near the Orfű lakes, aims to combine relaxation close to nature with measurable responsibility. For them, sustainability is not a separate „extra”, but an approach that is integrated into everyday operations: from planning the guest experience, through procurement and service processes, to presenting local values. Local products play an important role in the guesthouse's gastronomic offer, and its bicycle-friendly approach supports exploring the area with a lower environmental impact.
Accessibility as a principle of social sustainability
Natúra Pension also consciously strengthens the social pillar of sustainability. The development of services available to guests with disabilities is one of the important messages of the certification: the pension also provides a barrier-free studio apartment, barrier-free parking, and wheelchair-accessible solutions related to the communal spaces. The inclusive approach has been strong in Orfű for years, to which Natúra Pension is an active player, building on partnerships, and is gradually expanding the barrier-free tourism offer.
What does the Good Travel Seal mean and why does it matter?
The Good Travel Seal is an international certification system developed by Green Destinations, which examines sustainability in a complex approach: in addition to environmental aspects, economic and social responsibility are also part of the evaluation. The program is based on the principles of the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), and its goal is to communicate the results of the audit along a transparent performance logic that is understandable to guests.
GTS offers a development path in three levels, with a total of five grades, from Bronze to Diamond. Achieving the Gold level indicates that the business meets international sustainability expectations in several areas, to a high standard, in a verified manner – meaning guests are not met with promises, but with proven performance.
Rising ratings in the European green transition
In line with the European Union's Green Transition objectives, several sustainability certification schemes are refining their criteria and required evidence. This makes it increasingly important for businesses to consistently interpret requirements, improve operational processes and document performance.
The preparation of Natúra Panzió also took place within this professional framework. The individual mentoring program of InnoTime Hungary Kft. provides methodological support to domestic actors – including in connection with the Good Travel Seal and Bioscore systems – in order to ensure that sustainability commitments are not only expressed at the communication level, but can also be verified in a measurable, transparent and auditable manner according to international standards.
